Effectively, yes. WorkSafeBC states that construction employers pay into the Construction Industry Program, which funds hearing tests for construction workers, so they do not pay directly when the audiometric tester is part of the program.
Firms whose WorkSafeBC classification unit begins with 72, shown on your WorkSafeBC assessment paperwork. If you are not sure, confirm with WorkSafeBC before assuming the program applies.
Yes, Clear Work is an active Construction Industry Program provider and a WorkSafeBC-authorized Industrial Audiometric Business; not every approved facility takes part, and WorkSafeBC's directory marks those that don't. Testing can be combined with respirator fit testing and custom hearing protection impressions in the same visit, and outside the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, impressions are available for larger crews.
Yes: the program changes who pays, not who is responsible, so you still book the testing and keep the records, since section 7.9 of the Regulation keeps the record-keeping duty with the employer. Your client portal keeps every testing record on one dashboard.
An initial hearing test not later than 6 months after the start of employment, then a test at least once every 12 months. Section 7.8(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation requires this for workers exposed above the noise exposure limits.
