Why First Aid Training Matters

Trained Attendants Make the Difference

Common emergencies in manufacturing:

  • Machine cuts and crush injuries
  • Burns from hot surfaces
  • Chemical splashes and eye injuries
  • Lifting and strain injuries

Every shift needs trained attendants, which is hard to arrange off site.

Which level do you need? Our free first aid requirements checker tells you in four questions: Basic, Intermediate or Advanced, and how many per shift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from manufacturers about on-site first aid training.

What level of first aid does our workplace need?
arrow_forward_ios

WorkSafeBC first aid requirements depend on your workplace's hazard rating, the number of workers on each shift, and travel time to a hospital. We can help you understand where Basic First Aid (formerly OFA Level 1) or Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) training fits your site, and let you know if a higher level of attendant may be required.

What is the minimum group size?
arrow_forward_ios

We deliver on-site training for groups of 5 or more. Larger teams can be split across several sessions or days.

How long does training take?
arrow_forward_ios

Basic First Aid (formerly OFA Level 1) is 8 hours, run in one day. Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) is 16 hours, delivered as two days in person or as a blend of online learning and an in-person practical day. Certificates are valid for three years.

Can you train different shifts separately?
arrow_forward_ios

Yes. We can schedule multiple sessions so each shift trains without affecting production.

Where do you run training in our plant?
arrow_forward_ios

We use a training room, boardroom, or lunchroom with space for hands-on practice.
