About the Client

Vertis Construction operates in the construction industry in British Columbia.

Construction employees can work around power tools, heavy equipment, machinery and other sources of occupational noise. For employers managing noise-exposed workers, coordinating hearing testing is an important part of an effective workplace hearing conservation program.

Vertis Construction needed a practical way to arrange hearing testing for its team without requiring employees to leave the job site for individual appointments.

Clear Work brought the testing directly to their Abbotsford construction site.

The Challenge
What the organization was facing

Coordinating hearing testing for a construction workforce can create unnecessary downtime when employees have to travel to an outside clinic.

For a 20-person crew, individual off-site appointments can mean coordinating multiple schedules, travel time and interruptions to the workday.

Vertis Construction wanted a more efficient approach.

The objective was to complete the required workplace hearing testing while making the process as convenient as possible for both the employer and employees.

Our Solution

Clear Work coordinated and delivered an on-site hearing testing session for 20 Vertis Construction employees in Abbotsford, BC

Step 1: Planning and Scheduling

Clear Work worked with Vertis Construction to coordinate the testing visit around their workplace requirements.

Instead of scheduling 20 separate off-site appointments, employees could be tested at the location where they were already working.

Step 2: Mobile Setup

Our mobile hearing testing unit arrived directly at the construction site with the equipment required to perform workplace audiometric testing.

The testing setup was prepared on-site so employees could move efficiently through their appointments. Step 3: Audiometric Testing

All 20 employees completed individual hearing tests using calibrated audiometric equipment.

Testing was performed by an audiometric technician and structured to keep each appointment efficient and comfortable while limiting time away from regular duties.

Step 4: Results and Documentation

Testing results were documented following each assessment.

Employees were able to receive information about their results and ask questions about the testing process, while the employer received the documentation required from the testing session.

What was included:
  • On-site audiometric testing
  • An experienced audiometric technician
  • Calibrated audiometric testing equipment
  • Efficient individual employee testing
  • Organized results and documentation
  • Flexible workplace scheduling
  • No employee travel to an outside clinic
  • Minimal disruption to regular operations
  • Support for ongoing workplace hearing testing requirement

Why This Approach Worked

This project demonstrates one of the main advantages of mobile occupational health services: the service comes to the workforce instead of the workforce having to travel to the service.

For Vertis Construction, 20 employees were able to complete their hearing testing directly at an active construction site in Abbotsford.

That meant no separate trips to a clinic and a simpler process for coordinating the crew.

The positive employee feedback showed that efficiency did not have to come at the expense of the employee experience.

The subsequent rebooking demonstrated that the approach also worked from the employer's perspective. One successful on-site visit became an ongoing client relationship.
