On-Site Hearing Testing for 240 Amazon Workers in Langley, BC

240 workers. Day and night shifts. One week. In January 2026, Clear Health Group's Clear Work division completed WorkSafeBC-compliant hearing testing for 240 Amazon workers at a fulfilment and sort facility in Langley Township, British Columbia. Testing ran as a series of on-site sessions across the week of January 12, covering both day and night shifts so no worker had to attend outside their normal hours. Amazon made office space available at the facility, so rather than working out of our mobile unit we brought all the testing equipment indoors and set up on site — which moved the crew through considerably faster than a van-based booth allows. Clear Work technicians Noah, Amy and Catherine delivered the project between them. It remains the largest single-site hearing testing project Clear Work has delivered, and Amazon has rebooked the same program for January 2027.

About the Client

Amazon operates a network of fulfilment and sort facilities across Canada, including several in British Columbia's Lower Mainland. These sites run large hourly workforces around the clock, which makes on-site occupational health testing considerably more practical than clinic-based appointments. Clear Work supported hearing conservation requirements at Amazon's Langley Township facility by bringing WorkSafeBC-compliant audiometric testing directly to the site, across both day and night shifts.

The Challenge
What the organization was facing

High-volume fulfilment and sort facilities run around the clock, with large crews moving through tightly scheduled day and night shifts. Sending hundreds of workers to outside clinic appointments is rarely practical, and pulling the whole floor at once is not an option.

Amazon required WorkSafeBC-compliant hearing testing for 240 workers at a single Langley Township facility, spread across both day and night shifts.

The requirement was volume without disruption: test the full crew inside one week, reach night-shift workers without asking them to come in during the day, and return organized documentation the safety team could file against section 7.8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.

Our Solution

Clear Work completed hearing testing for 240 workers at the Langley facility over the week of January 12, 2026.

Step 1: Covering Both Shifts

Testing was planned as a series of on-site sessions across the week rather than one large visit, scheduled to cover both the day and the night shift. Night-shift workers were tested during their own hours instead of being asked to return in the daytime. Crews were released in manageable groups so the floor kept running.

Step 2: Set Up Indoors in Provided Office Space

Amazon made office space available at the facility. That meant our team could bring all the testing equipment indoors and set up on site, rather than cycling workers one at a time through a single booth in our mobile unit. It removed the main bottleneck in high-volume testing and was the single biggest reason the week moved as quickly as it did.

Step 3: A Three-Person Team

Clear Work technicians Noah, Amy and Catherine delivered the project between them, which is what made the round-the-clock schedule workable and kept the process consistent from the first session to the last.

Step 4: Documentation

Each worker received their individual audiogram and results. The employer received organized summary reporting suitable for record retention, hearing conservation program management and WorkSafeBC audit.

Step 5: Booked Again

Amazon has rebooked the same testing program for January 2027, putting the facility on an annual cycle in line with section 7.8(1).

What was included:
  • On-site workplace hearing testing
  • WorkSafeBC-compliant audiometric testing for 240 workers
  • Day shift and night shift coverage
  • Three-person Clear Work technician team
  • All testing equipment brought to site
  • Testing delivered indoors in client-provided office space
  • Calibrated equipment and certified technicians
  • Multiple on-site sessions scheduled across one week
  • Individual audiograms and results for every worker
  • Organized employer summary reporting
  • Documentation suitable for WorkSafeBC audit and record retention
  • Annual testing cycle, rebooked for January 2027

Why This Approach Worked

The scale is what makes this project worth reading.

Most providers can handle a crew of twenty. Clearing 240 workers at one site inside a week, across both day and night shifts, is a different problem. It depends on throughput holding up session after session, on a team large enough to cover a round-the-clock schedule, and on documentation arriving organized rather than as a pile of loose results.

The thing that made the pace possible was the space. Amazon had office space available, so we brought the equipment indoors and set up properly on site instead of moving workers one at a time through a single booth in the mobile unit. Where a site has a spare room or meeting space, that is the faster way to run a large crew, and it is worth asking us about before you schedule. Where a site has nothing to spare, our mobile unit means testing still goes ahead.

The clearest measure of whether it worked is that Amazon booked it again. The same program is scheduled for January 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you test several hundred workers at a single site?
arrow_forward_ios

Yes. For larger workforces we add technicians and schedule multiple sessions. At this Langley project a three-person team completed testing for 240 workers inside one week at a single facility, covering both day and night shifts, working indoors in office space the client made available.

Do you provide mobile hearing testing in Langley, BC?
arrow_forward_ios

Yes. Clear Work provides on-site workplace hearing testing in Langley and throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and the rest of British Columbia.

Do we have to shut down the operation to complete hearing testing?
arrow_forward_ios

No. Testing is normally scheduled as a series of sessions so workers can be released in small groups across the day or week. The operation keeps running while testing proceeds alongside it.

Do we need to provide a room for hearing testing?
arrow_forward_ios

No, but it speeds things up considerably if you can. Testing can be done entirely inside our mobile hearing testing unit, so no indoor space is required and no site is turned away for lack of it. Where a site can provide a room or office space — as Amazon did at this Langley facility — we bring the equipment indoors and set up on site, which moves a large crew through much faster than a single booth in the van. If you have space available, mention it when you book.

How often does WorkSafeBC require hearing testing?
arrow_forward_ios

Section 7.8(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation requires an initial hearing test as soon as practicable after employment starts and no later than 6 months after the start date, then a test at least once every 12 months. This applies to workers exposed above the noise exposure limits in section 7.2 — an 85 dBA Lex daily average or a 140 dBC peak.

Can you test night shift workers?
arrow_forward_ios

Yes. For facilities running rotating, extended or overnight shifts, testing sessions can be scheduled so each shift is covered during its own hours. At the Langley project described here, night-shift workers were tested on nights rather than being asked to attend during the day.
