About the Client
Fire+ is a full-service fire protection and safety company operating in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, with four branches in B.C. alone.
Their Mainland operation is based in Burnaby, and that is where this testing took place.
The Challenge
What the organization was facing
Annual hearing testing is rarely difficult. It is just easy to let slip.
Under section 7.8(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, workers exposed above the noise limits need a hearing test at least once every 12 months, and a new hire needs an initial test within six months of starting. For a company running crews out of several branches, that is a set of dates somebody has to own.
The usual pattern is that the year rolls around, someone notices testing is due, and the sourcing and scheduling starts again from scratch.
Our Solution
Clear Work brought the mobile hearing testing unit to the Fire+ branch in Burnaby and tested 30 workers on site.
Testing at the branch. Workers came out for their test and went back to work. Nobody drove to a clinic and nobody lost a day.
One technician, start to finish. Noah ran the testing and worked through the crew.
Documentation to the employer. Each worker received their results, and Fire+ received an organized summary for their hearing conservation file.
Next year booked before we left. Rather than leave the 2027 test to be remembered and re-sourced, Fire+ put the next visit in the calendar for September 2027 while the crew was still on site.
